Cisco® ONS 15454 Metro Optical Ethernet, Layer 2 (MOE)
Length: 3-day Workshop
This course is designed to develop a practical understanding of the Cisco® ONS 15454 SONET Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP) and its new switching capabilities. Using Cisco® Transport Controller and Cisco IOS® Software, students learn how to provision Layer 2, including VLANs, Rapid Spanning-Tree Protocol, and Resilient Packet Ring (RPR), on the ML-Series multilayer Ethernet line cards. The labs allow students to build an optical SONET network and implement Cisco Systems® Metro Ethernet services - Ethernet Relay Service (ERS), Ethernet Wire Service (EWS), and Ethernet Multipoint Service (EMS).
You will learn to:
- Select and configure required Cisco® ONS 15454 SONET MSPP hardware that enables Ethernet connectivity and traffic transport
- Configure administrative parameters on a node using Cisco® Transport Controller and Cisco IOS® Software
- Implement Layer 2 features including VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol, Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol, and Protocol Tunneling
- Implement quality of service (QoS) based on service level agreements
- Build a network topology with resiliency through redundancy
- Perform the required steps to implement Metro Ethernet services and deliver Ethernet connectivity to the customer site
- Describe, configure, and troubleshoot three Metro Ethernet deployment solutions (ERS, EWS, and EMS)
- Implement basic troubleshooting techniques in environments that use Cisco® ONS 15454 SONET MSPP
Recommended for:
- Individuals who deploy Cisco® ONS 15454 SONET MSPP with Layer 2 applications
- Individuals who implement Metro Ethernet Switching Services over Cisco® ONS 15454 SONET MSPP
- Individuals seeking knowledge and hands-on experience with Cisco® ONS 15454 SONET MSPP switching features
Prerequisites:
- Cisco IOS® Software switching fundamentals as covered in Interconnecting Cisco® Networking
