CISCO® ONS 15454 & 15327 TEST & TURN UP (ON454)

Length: 5-day Workshop

In Cisco® ONS 15454 and 15327 Test and Turn Up, you will acquire the primary knowledge and skills required to optimally deploy a Cisco® ONS 15454 SONET Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP) or Cisco® ONS 15327 SONET Multiservice Platform optical switch in a complex enterprise network. Eleven hands-on labs allow you to practice the techniques taught in class in a real-world environment. You will learn to interconnect ONS 15454 and ONS 15327 platforms, configure systems for SONET topologies, provision card protection, build circuits, and deploy Ethernet and dense wavelength-division multiplexing (DWDM) solutions. Multiple hardware devices, software products, and analyzers allow you to explore the best practices of designing and deploying the ONS 15454 and ONS 15327 optical switches as well as troubleshooting a typical installation.

You will learn to:

  • Configure an ONS 15454 or ONS 15327 optical switch
  • Provision a SONET network
  • Manage an optical system using the Cisco® Transport Controller
  • Provision Ethernet cards
  • Deploy a unidirectional path-switched ring (UPSR)
  • Install and deploy DWDM
  • Provision and test DS1 and DS3 circuits
  • Provision ML-series cards
  • Maintain an ONS 15454 and ONS 15327 optical switch
  • Characterize a SONET network
  • Describe the fundamental architecture and components of the ONS 15454 and ONS 15327 optical switches
  • Determine the best topology for given network situations, including UPSR vs. BLSR
  • Configure crossconnect (XC) on an ONS 15454
  • Deploy a bidirectional line-switched ring (BLSR)

Recommended for:

This course is intended for network professionals who install, deploy, and test Cisco® ONS 15454 and ONS 15327 optical switches.

Prerequisites:

  • Experience using the Cisco IOS® Software command line interface (CLI)
  • Routing fundamentals and IP addressing
  • Introduction to Cisco® Networking Devices (ICND)
  • Experience working with telecommunications transport networks and equipment, including T1, M13, and TDM
  • Experience using communications analyzers such as TBERD or Tektronix
