Course slide preview for MSTP ONS BasicIn this intense four-day course you learn the skills necessary to deploy a multiservice transport platform (MSTP) network, including fiber-cleaning techniques, fiber test requirements, and node turn-up. You will learn to deploy different dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) topologies using Cisco® Transport Planner to provision the Cisco® ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP). The MSTP Basic course is designed to give you significant classroom hands-on time to validate the lessons learned in lecture using the comprehensive classroom hardware and labs.

You will learn to:

  • Connect and configure a Cisco® ONS 15454 MSTP chassis
  • Identify node configurations according to card population
  • Characterize the role of Cisco® Transport Planner in turning up an MSTP network
  • Provision DWDM circuits using Cisco® Transport Controller
  • Perform performance monitoring, alarm verification, and fault isolation
  • Isolate "optical" network issues

Prerequisites:

Prerequisite Knowledge Relevant Courses
Routing fundamentals and IP addressing Introduction to Cisco® Networking Devices (ICND) or equivalent
Familiarity with the Cisco® ONS 15454 family
Knowledge of SONET or SDH structure and hierarchy
Knowledge of DWDM basics
Experience using optical test equipment
