Introduction to Cisco IOS® XR (IOSXR)
Length: 5-day Workshop
This course is designed to introduce the audience to Cisco's new router operating system, IOS® XR, and its application on new hardware platforms. The course modules will introduce the operation, routing protocol implementation, security, and installation of packaged software, amongst other topics. Hands-on lab exercises will enhance and reinforce the student's understanding.
You will learn to:
- List and describe the structure of IOS® XR OS software
- List the IOS® XR supported platforms and hardware configurations
- Install and upgrade the OS and implement fixes to existing software
- Implement basic security limiting router access
- Create and implement basic access control lists (ACL)
- Implement IS-IS, OSPF, and iBGP routing protocols
- Create simple Route Policy Language (RPL) policies
- Implement MPLS Label Discovery Protocol (LDP)
- Create simple QoS queuing, policing and shaping policies
- Verify configurations and the resulting outcomes
- Bring up the Craft Works Interface (CWI)
- Use CWI to perform basic configuration tasks and basic monitoring techniques

- Acceptance and operational testing
- Provisioning and configuring routers
- Operations, maintenance and support of networks
Prerequisites:
For a student to successfully complete this course, they should meet these minimum recommended prerequisites:
- Router installation experience
- Router operating system experience
- Routing protocol configuration experience with IS-IS, OSPF, and BGP
- Basic knowledge of Cisco route maps
- Basic knowledge of MPLS, Multicast, and QoS
- Basic knowledge of Cisco router security, including AAA and TACACS+
- Basic knowledge of Unix commands
- Basic Cisco router troubleshooting experience
