Course slide preview for CUCM5In this comprehensive five-day course you will learn how to integrate Cisco® Unified Communications into a network to meet voice and data requirements. Multiple hands-on Labs allow you to select, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco® Unified Communications products such as Cisco® Unified CallManager 5.0, Cisco® VG248 48-Port Analog Phone Gateway, Cisco Catalyst® 6000 Series Switches, and digital signal processor (DSP) resources plus digital line cards, Cisco IOS® Software gatekeeper, and Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP) and H.323 gateways. You will also explore the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) including line-side and trunk-side configurations.

You will learn to:

  • Perform installation, backup, and restoration tasks for Cisco® Unified CallManager 5.0
  • Describe the available suite of Cisco® endpoints and enable basic phone services using autoregister features
  • Select and configure gateways that use Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP), MGCP, or H.323
  • Configure and verify H.323 and SIP trunks
  • Configure dial plans to enable routing calls, accessing features, and controlling access
  • Explain gatekeeper functions, configure a gatekeeper-controlled inter-cluster trunk (ICT), and establish gatekeeper resiliency using Gatekeeper Update Protocol (GUP)
  • Explain Call Admission Control (CAC) functions and configure using location-based CAC, gatekeeper-controlled CAC, resource availability, and Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP)
  • Describe advanced user features available in a Cisco® Unified CallManager solution
  • Explain Cisco® support for SIP devices and configure SIP phones
  • Configure media resources for conferencing, transcoding, music on hold, and annunciator
  • Use Cisco Unity® voice mail and configure it using the voicemail port wizard
  • Configure Survivable Remote Site Telephony (SRST) with both basic commands and Cisco® Unified CallManager and monitor and troubleshoot its operation
  • Identify and use common Cisco® Unified CallManager troubleshooting tools

This course is intended for field and channel systems engineers and network engineers who deploy IP telephony solutions based on the Cisco® Unified Communications architecture and Cisco® Unified CallManager 5.0.

Prerequisites:

  • Experience using the Cisco IOS® command-line interface (CLI), routing fundamentals, and IP addressing (recommended)
  • Introduction to Cisco® Networking Devices (ICND)
  • Voice Essentials or equivalent experience
  • Cisco® Voice over IP (CVOICE)
  • Windows 2000 administration and a familiarity with Redhat Linux
