Advanced AVVID Troubleshooting and PBX Integration Boot Camp (AATPI)

Length: 5-day Workshop

Cisco® Advanced AVVID Troubleshooting and PBX Integration Boot Camp (AATPI), a follow-on course to the Cisco® CallManager MCS Boot Camp (CMBC), is intended for engineers who must troubleshoot a Cisco® IP telephony (IPT) network in a deployment environment or in a Cisco® Technical Assistance Center (TAC) support environment.

Students will troubleshoot the common Cisco® IPT issues that Cisco® TAC receives. A break and fix methodology is used, with an array of labs focusing on installation problems, followed by problems with gateways, remote offices, gatekeepers, dialplans, Music on Hold (MOH), echo, quality of service (QoS), and failover. Labs include configuration, products. This course does not address Cisco Unity®!

Integrating Cisco® AVVID (Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data) with a traditional private branch exchange (PBX) presents deployment challenges. Students integrate a traditional PBX (Avaya Definity) through Primary Rate Interface (PRI) and channel associated signaling (CAS) gateways, both with a Cisco® Catalyst® 6000 Series Switch and Cisco IOS® routers as well as H.323 and Media Gateway Control Protocol (MGCP).

The labs, which account for 75 percent of class time, use pods that simulate a large enterprise with headquarters and branch offices. Pods ultimately merge into a fully distributed Cisco® IPT deployment. Troubleshooting problems were prioritized through interviews with experienced Cisco® TAC engineers and field systems engineers.

You will learn to:

  • Verify Cisco® IPT installation and configuration and troubleshoot problems
  • Identify, configure, and troubleshoot common issues in a Cisco® IPT network
  • Identify and use appropriate tools to troubleshoot a Cisco® IPT network
  • Integrate Cisco® CallManager with a PBX

Recommended for:

This course is intended for engineers deploying or troubleshooting a Cisco® IPT network in an enterprise or service provider managed-services environment.

Prerequisites:

This is an advanced course and is not appropriate for learning Cisco® IPT fundamentals. Before attending this course, students should attend the Cisco® CMBC or the Cisco® IPT Boot Camp, or meet all objectives specified in the CMBC. Course objectives for the CMBC are as follows:

  • Install and configure Cisco® CallManager in a two-unit cluster (primary [subscriber] and publisher)
  • Install IP phones, set up server for auto-registration, and configure phones for supplementary services
  • Integrate sites in centralized and distributed modes
  • Use available troubleshooting tools to diagnose and resolve problems in installation and operations
  • Connect IP voice network to public switched telephone network (PSTN) and analog phones through gateways
